Static screens are specifically designed to separate solids Static screens are specifically designed to separate suspended solids from liquids. This separation is accomplished in a fast manner, without energy support, as there are no moving parts, motors or complicated connections, almost completely maintenance-free, and under conditions that make it easier than any other system to transport these solids as they have dripped off.
Due to this simplicity and the advantages of using it, it is suitable for many facilities and it allows to reuse the solids that are washed away in the waste, obtaining a profit while solving the problem of reducing the waste time.
The static screen as a device with no moving parts to cascade the slurry containing solids down along a wedge-shaped wire mesh to separate the solids from the liquid.
The slurry is pumped or gravity fed into the top chamber of the device, flows over a full width weir and cascades along the curved screen surface. The liquid passes through the sieve holes into the collection chamber below. Solid particles larger than the screen void size remain on the surface and, as the weight/volume of this accumulated mass increases, gently slide down the screen surface, being compacted and further dewatered as they move downward. At the bottom discharge chute, the solids are simply dropped or, in some applications, further dewatered by a drum or screw press unit.
A static screen version has the screen firmly fixed in place, while another, more efficient unit has the screen mounted so that a small motor can vibrate it.
- Simple structure. Static screen contains screen, screen frame, inlet pipe, cloth pipe, etc.
- High treatment efficiency. When used for sewage treatment, the BOD removal efficiency is approximately equal to the initial sedimentation. When used for domestic sewage treatment, the flow through capacity of hydraulic screen per meter width is about 2000m³/d, the role is similar to a 180㎡ clarifier, and a hydraulic screen covers an area of only less than 5㎡.
